Behind the Art: Meet the Australian Artists Behind Mindful Marlo
Every Mindful Marlo bag or accessory starts life as a piece of original art, not a stock pattern - and honestly, the story behind each print is usually more interesting than the products themselves. This is the first in an ongoing series introducing the Australian artists whose work you're carrying every time you travel.
Meet Jade Fisher
Jade Fisher works out of Gerringong on the NSW South Coast. She trained in textile design and spent years as a fashion designer in London and Sydney before coming back to painting full-time - swapping structured, deadline-driven design work for something a lot more intuitive. Her practice today spans florals, fish, abstract patchwork and beach scenes, and by her own description, it's all driven by curiosity and joy, with one simple aim: make people smile.
Jade's work has already turned up across bedding, fashion, swimwear and homewares with a number of Australian brands, and she's created two collections for us - Fleur and Romy. Think dreamy botanicals, soft pastels, and the same playful warmth that runs through all her work, reimagined for a hanging toiletry bag and its companion pieces . A collaboration model, not a single designer
Jade is one of several Australian artists we work with, alongside Rach Jackson and Rebecca Kate - each bringing their own distinct style rather than one house look stretched across everything. It's a deliberate choice: an in-house design team would be faster and cheaper, but we'd lose exactly what makes each print feel like something a person made, not something a computer generated.
What this means when you buy one
Your purchase supports working Australian artists, and every print carries a story most mass-market accessories simply can't - because they're not made this way. It's a nice little thing on a rushed Tuesday morning, and an even nicer thing to be able to tell someone when you give one as a gift.
